Can't see this new "who to follow" Twitter feature. Is it being rolled out on a phased basis?
I've never seen a single episode of Dr Who.There, I've said it. And I turned down tickets to see laughing lennie in lissadell too.

Save Money while heating your home PDF Print E-mail

Ask yourself, do I really need to have my central heating on all day when we only really use two rooms for everyday living?

There are a couple of options worth considering as they can save money over the long term, this week, we're going to concentrate stoves.

For the home with an open fire it is worth thinking about how much money is wasted getting heat from flames, an easy way to look at the cost of an open fire is at least €7 out of every €10 you spend on fuel goes up the chimney !

It's actually possible to reverse those numbers by using a stove instead of the open fire. Yes, you can get the same level of heat for €3 that you presently get for €10.

How? It's quite simple really. One major drawback of an open fire is that you have a big hole in the room(chimney) constantly allowing heat to escape, especially when it's not in use!

By fitting a stove it is possible to substantially reduce the heat lost up your chimney.  The reason being, you can close off the air intake when the stove is not being used so that the heat from your radiators is not escaping, so not only will it save you money on your choice of solid fuel, it will actually save you money on your central heating too.

You don’t have to spend a small fortune on a stove today, in fact if your fireplace has a flat front it is possible to fit a stove insert without any major changes just remove the grate and you are ready to fit your stove.

Stove inserts cost from €487.00 for a 3 Kw output that takes on average 20 minutes to install, there is wide variety of different stove options available, which usually means there are a lot of products on offer some better than others.

Questions to ask when shopping for a stove

Has the stove been tested and certified to EN 13240?

Are spare parts readily available should anything goes wrong?

Where was the stove manufactured?

What happens if there is a problem with the product who provides back up service?

Lumpy Boobs!
Written by Lisa aka Hammy Peters

I'm sorry I couldn't come up with some kind of breast related pun.

I just finished reading a compilation of stories donated by Female Writers in aid of Breast Cancer Research and I am all mammaried out.

I find I have a confession to make.

2 weeks ago I went for an annual lady health check and the doctor found a lump

in my boob. A lump that I hadn't noticed. I will stop here and say "everything was fine" okay? so keep reading. Why hadn't I noticed? because I am not very well endowed so most days my breasts are made up of the latest science and technology available in the Bra Shop. And what I do have is mostly made up of lumps so how am I to tell?

I should pay more attention I know. My big sister (who sent me the book) was diagnosed with Breast Cancer just after her 40th birthday. And yes, she too is okay. She had an awful time of it, several operations, a long spell of chemo, a lot of worry over getting a reconstruction (she got one - eventually) and then the recovery from all of that.

I saw her at Christmas time and she looks fantastic with her new dark Botticelli curls and pert, buxom and busty bust line. She is doing great thank you.

I also saw her when she got the news, almost 3 years ago. I was there with my Boo for my first trip home in 5 years and she had to go and get bloody cancer. I was absolutely no use to her and her 3 vibrant and energetic children and supportive pragmatic husband. I had to go and get on a plane back to the other side of the world and leave them to deal with everything. My little sister and her family helped out of course and between them they got through it.

I'm not sure I would have been much more than moral support if I had have been there. My Autism Card would have kept coming up against her Cancer Card and in a lot of ways I think having my situation in closer proximity might have made things harder for everyone.
The family needed to concentrate on the practicalities of having someone very ill to care for a lot of the time - and she needed to care for herself.

When it happened, I had that awful selfish grief for myself kept quietly hidden in the bedroom "what if I lose MY sister? I need her!" but I kept that hidden away.
I also had the sense of being cheated by life.

Websites on Twitter? E-mail
Written by Susan Cloonan

I'm getting more and more into this Twittering lark lately. I find it amusing that it's so easy to strike up a short conversation with someone who I wouldn't have had the opportunity to have said "hi" to in real life. And, you can bet, if I did meat them "IRL" that I probably wouldn't have dared to greet them anyway. I'm still waiting to converse with Ryan Tubridy who seems to have done a legger since I started following him a couple of weeks ago. He's probably gotten wind of my inane ramblings on a particular parenting website.

I'm also starting to realise the value of Twitter with regard to getting "known" and so I've created an account for itsinmyway.com. This is a website that was set up about a year or so ago and aimed at getting people to de-clutter by putting the things they no longer need on the site, either to sell, swap, or give away. It also has a section where tradespeople can advertise their services, and a general chat section. If you're living in Ireland you should visit and see what's on offer in your area.

I'm wondering what other websites are on Twitter? I've found plenty of links to other companies, but a lot of websites aren't companies. If you know of any, please let me know.

Giftsandvouchers.ie meets new Business Partner David Quaid on Twitter! E-mail
Written by Sian Maloney
Thursday, 16 April 2009 08:42

In a possible first for Twitter in Ireland, Giftsandvouchers.ie welcomes a new business partner in the form of PrimaryPosition.com founder - David Quaid. David and Sian met through using Twitter and David has decided to invest in the popular and growing GiftsAndVouchers.ie website. The pair
met through posting on twitter and are both said to be delighted with the move announced today from Giftsandvouchers headquarters in Drogheda and PrimaryPosition in the National Technology Park, Limerick.

David will be better know to everybody who uses Twitter as @primaryposition. Likewise, Sian Maloney would be known as @giftsandvoucher. They became friendly through Twitter and through this developed a business interest. This week Twitter became like Cilla in Blind Date looking for a new hat, and they joined alliances (in the business sense of course!).

They are looking forward to the next few weeks as they have exciting new developments planned for the website in taking it forward. The future looks bright for giftsandvouchers.ie

A quick note about www.talk4ireland.com!

Formerly known as www.irishwomenonline.com, when we decided to revamp the site, we went all out!

Here's the plan.

We're looking for people with blogs/websites to  feature on the front

page(2 or 3 that will feature for the week). You choose the content. It can be about current affairs, advice on your area of expertise or anything of interest really. It will then act as advertising for you, and as content for us, so it will work like an affiliate/partnership with the blogger/business.

Like twitter or any social media, it would be expected that you would contribute to the discussion forum, get to know those posting and then hopefully gain personal recommendations for your site, while giving a little back.

For those who don't wish to contribute to the forum, but would still like to be featured, we can make other arrangements, but who wouldn't want to talk4ireland?
